Summer Swim Update

Good evening swim families,

First off, we hope this email finds you and your family in good health and high spirits. Ordinarily our first email would be full of dates, plans, and excitement for the upcoming season. However, we all know these are hardly ordinary days. This does not mean that Summer Swim has been forgotten. On the contrary, preparations for the season began months ago. Divisions are set, schedules are published, and we are as excited as ever for a wonderful season. Unfortunately, there are so many unknowns that need to play out before we know how COVID-19 will impact Summer League.

Rest assured, our primary concern is for the safety of our swimmers and their families. Once our situation becomes more stable, the Gwinnett County Swim League will decide whether the season should proceed under guidance from the CDC, state, and local governments. Once this happens, we are ready to open registration immediately and move forward to make the best of whatever season we can enjoy. Until then, we have decided not to register any swimmers. We are not the only team in the league to make this decision. We want to ensure that swimsuits which won’t be worn are not purchased, that processing fees will not be unnecessarily incurred, and that we don’t make any assumptions about the fate of our season.

At this point, we have time on our side as we are about 6 weeks out from our first scheduled practice. We will communicate updates as they become available to us.

Be well, stay safe, and stay home!

Gwinnett Aquatics - Registration is now open for Spring Tune-up

Believe it or not, the summer swim season is not too far off. Tonight is the last night to sign-up for Gwinnett Aquatics 2020 Spring Tune-up before they open it up to the public. Please see the information below ...

Registration is now open at Gwinnett Aquatics to current and returning families for the 2020 Spring Tune-up. The Spring Tune-up is for (non-year round) swimmers aged 5-13 who can already swim the length of the pool (level 6 or higher in lessons) and are looking for a quality head start to the summer league season. This is one of our most popular programs and is likely to fill early, especially after we put it up publicly on our website on Feb 11. You are getting this notice because you have participated in one of our programs in the past year. If you are interested I encourage you to register during this members only enrollment period.

RSVPs and Volunteer Sign Ups

Good morning Eels Families,

The first week of practice was a great one! So many new faces, lots of hard work, and endless smiles! We are looking forward to an amazing season.

Our first meet is less than two weeks away! With the craziness of the school year almost behind us, it is a great time to plan your summer swim schedule. Swimmer RSVPs for all meets are now open. Please RSVP for as many meets as you can now. It will be assumed that families who do not RSVP will not have swimmers in the water. Please make every effort to RSVP your swimmer prior to the deadline so relays can be accurately seeded.

To RSVP your swimmer, click on the Swim Meets tab, and select Schedule from the drop down menu. Choose the meet that you are replying for and click the Meet Entry button. Choose your swimmer's name from the list, and click the Edit button. Select the appropriate option from the list and click Save. You should get a message that Your Meet Entries Were Saved Successfully and the status will be updated. Please do this for all meets EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT ATTENDING.

It's also time to choose volunteer slots! For those families who completed online registration prior to our Registration Day, your volunteer slots have been entered. Please check these assignments for accuracy.

To see a list of your currently assigned slots, click on Welcome in the upper right corner, then select My Account. Your currently assigned positions are listed at the bottom of the screen.

To add or edit volunteer slots, click on the Swim Meets tab, and select Schedule from the drop down menu. Choose the meet that you are replying for and click the Job Signup button. Choose the appropriate name and click the Sign Up for Jobs button. The next screen will have a list of all available job opportunities for that meet. Please pay particular attention to the Session number. Detailed job descriptions are available for by clicking on the I bubble next to each job. Check the box next to the job you are interested in, and click Save. To REMOVE an assignment, follow the same instructions and unclick the box next to the job you are removing yourself from. Don't forget to click Save.

Remember, with the increase in the number of swim families, our volunteer requirements have dropped to 4 per family (with one swimmer), and 5 per family (with two or more swimmers). There are some new job options this year, so be sure to check them out!

Please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any questions!

Have a great weekend and see you at the pool!

SWIMSUITS: If you ordered your team suits at Registration, they have arrived and will be distributed at practice this week. Please see Ulisia Byrd to pick up your order. Any suits ordered directly from All American Swim will be delivered by the method you chose at purchase.

DRINKS: We are asking each family to donate a 12 pack of Coke products (only) or a case of water to the team for each swimmer in your household. Please start to bring the drinks to practice and make sure you write your last name on the cases. We sell these in concessions to help raise money for the team. Thanks so much.

VOLUNTEER SLOTS: We have over 40 new swimmers joining our team this summer! Please reach out and welcome any new faces that you see this week! With the increase in the number of families, we are excited to announce a decrease in the number of volunteer slots that each family will be required to complete. If your family has ONE SWIMMER, we ask that you complete at least FOUR volunteer slots. If your family has TWO OR MORE SWIMMERS, we ask that you complete at least FIVE volunteer slots. Keeping our young families in mind, we are doing our best to incorporate volunteer slots that are feasible for families with small children. Look for an email this week announcing that swim meet RSVPs and volunteer slot signups are available.

BIRTH CERTIFICATES:We have dozens of new swimmers on the team this season. For those swimmers new to the Gwinnett County Swim League, we MUST have a copy of a certified birth certificate on file. If you have recently registered, please bring a copy to a board member at practice this week. Your swimmer cannot be seeded into a meet until we have this.

Thank you in advance for a wonderful season! We are looking forward to fun in the sun, fast swimming, and tons of good times ahead! Summer days are the best days!

Enjoy the last few days of your school year!
